Focus..... wha....?

So, I know that it is crazy to think that an organizer cannot stay focussed but I have a really difficult time with this. I will be in one room tidying and have to take something into another room then I get distracted with a task from that room. Next thing I know the phone is ringing or one of my kids is asking for something. Meanwhile I am trying to go through emails, make supper and get everyone else organized! I just can't seem to stay on track. EVER.

I thought that I would share something different that I tried this morning. I used a timer. I would set the timer for anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes and in that alloted time I had to stay in the room that I was in until that area was satisfactory. (The bed was made, the clothes were put away, and it was tidied.) You would not believe just how many times I went to walk out of that room before I was really finished in there. All rooms were done in about half an hour, yippee!

The timer really worked for me. It made me FOCUS. And if I wasn't quite finished then I would add five more minutes and carry on. We have so many distractions; even more so these days with technology. Sometimes it is alright to unplug from your phone, email, internet, Facebook or whatever else you tend to be drawn to. I also make lists to keep me on track and try to keep my calender up to date. I mean, I am good but I am not superwoman! I forget things all the time. Do whatever it takes so that you can get done all that you need to. It will save time and allow for you to do the fun things!
